Welcome to Medellín, where the public Metrocable floats above the energy and chaos of the city. Set against the vibrant barrio, “Popular 1”, Pa Riba is a comedy-drama about family, ambition, and the unexpected moments that bring us closer together.
When two cousins embark on a journey up Medellín’s iconic Metrocable, what begins as a simple trip through the city quickly becomes something more personal. Suspended above the neighborhoods they call home, their ride becomes a space for old tensions, unspoken feelings, and the complicated dynamics that exist between generations.
Shot entirely in Medellín and featuring local Colombian talent, Pa Riba is rooted in the rhythms, humor, language, and everyday experiences of the city. The film embraces the particular character of Medellín, from its crowded cable cars and sprawling barrios, to the warmth and irreverent humor of its people.
Pa Riba is also a celebration of the Metrocable itself as the first film shot in the cable cars. More than a means of transportation, the cable system connects communities across the city's dramatic geography and offers a unique perspective on Medellín and the people who live there. By placing an intimate family story inside this extraordinary public space, the film turns a familiar part of everyday life into a cinematic journey.
With humor, heart, and an authentic Colombian perspective, Pa Riba explores how sometimes, to move forward, you simply have to go up.
